Supply Options, Warranty Cover

Understanding Supply Options, Warranty Cover, and Consumer Rights with Culkin Plumbing and Heating

At Culkin Plumbing and Heating, we believe in transparency, flexibility, and ensuring our customers are fully informed. When it comes to supplying bathroom and plumbing fixtures—such as taps, showers, and sanitary ware—you have two options:

  1. You can supply the parts yourself, or

  2. We can supply the parts for you, with a 20% handling fee.

Each option has different implications when it comes to warranty coverage, insurance liability, and your rights under UK law.

Mission

1. When Culkin Supplies the Parts

If you choose Culkin Plumbing and Heating to source and supply your fixtures:

  • 20% Handling Fee: This covers the administrative costs of ordering, inspecting, and delivering your items.

  • Labour Warranty Cover: Should there be any issues with the supplied product (e.g., a faulty tap), Culkin will replace it without additional labour charges. The labour to remove and reinstall the item is covered under Culkin’s workmanship warranty.

  • Your Consumer Rights: Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, if the supplied product is not of satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose, or not as described, you are entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund. Since Culkin is the retailer in this scenario, we handle the complaint and process any returns or replacements on your behalf.

Vision

2. When You Supply the Parts

If you prefer to supply your own products:

  • No Handling Fee: Culkin simply installs the item, with no additional sourcing cost.

  • No Labour Warranty on the Part: If the part turns out to be defective, or fails after installation, Culkin will charge for any labour required to remove and reinstall a replacement. This is because the product itself was not supplied (or guaranteed) by Culkin.

  • Your Consumer Rights: You, as the buyer, must deal directly with the original seller or manufacturer if the part is defective. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 remain intact—but Culkin is not responsible for faulty items it did not supply.

  • Insurance Cover: Culkin's public liability insurance covers accidental damage caused during installation, regardless of who supplied the part. However, it does not cover manufacturing defects or product failures for customer-supplied goods.
